Goliath
the Black Throated Monitor Lizard
Goliath still shows scars from his illegal transport into the
US from Africa. To keep them calm during transport these animals
are regularly bound to subdue them, often ending in injury
or death. Confiscated by the US Fish and Wildlife service,
Goliath is an important animal in our African wildlife program
allowing us the opportunity to talk about this amazing animal
and his unique African habitat. |

Izod the North American
Alligator
The Sheriff's Department in Los Angeles was watching a house
where they knew the owners were dealing drugs. When the time
was right, they raided the house and inside, in the bath-tub,
they found Izod, living in filthy, dirty conditions. He was
taken away and sent to Wild Things and has become an icon
of our wildlife assembly programs. We do not visit a school
or group without someone asking about Izod!

Miss Piggy the Burmese
Python
When Miss Piggy got too big for a teachers' classroom in
Albuquerque, NM, the teacher drove Miss Piggy out to Wild
Things and has maintained contact and continued to support
Miss Piggy and Wild Things over the years. These animals are
often sold in pet stores to unsuspecting animal lovers who
don't realize the enormous size these slithering snakes can
get. Miss Piggy is now closing in on 15 ft. and 130 lbs. and
will continue to grow for the rest of her life!
